I'm Tanmay Nag
Hello and welcome to my world of storytelling! I’m Tanmay Nag, an Indian Filmmaker immersed in the vibrant tapestry of Hindi cinema. Born on July 8, 1973, my journey has been an eclectic blend of academia, corporate life, and a deep-rooted passion for creative expression.
Academic Exploration
My academic voyage began at the University of Calcutta, where I earned my B.Sc. Intrigued by the possibilities, I ventured into Aircraft Maintenance Engineering at the Air Technical Training Institute, Kolkata. An M.B.A. from the Eastern Institute for Integrated Learning in Management University followed, setting the stage for a dynamic career transition.
The Creative Call
Since childhood, the allure of acting and direction captivated me. I found solace on stage, participating in plays and collaborating with theatre groups. A crash course at Mr. Anupam Kher’s Actor Prepares, Mumbai, further fueled my creative fire.
Filmmaking and Boombaaz Entertainment
In 2018, after bidding farewell to my corporate stint at HP (Hewlett Packard) through Xylem India Pvt. Ltd., I wholeheartedly embraced filmmaking. Simultaneously, I founded Boombaaz Entertainment, a platform for creative exploration.
Literary Pursuits
My journey in literature flourished with two Bengali poetry books, “Jibon Kheya” and “Apekkhik,” published in 2009 and 2011, respectively. A proud moment in my literary adventure.
Cinematic Odyssey
The cinematic ride began with short films like “DASTAK” and “KASHAK” in 2018, released by Six Sigma Films. “TABEEB- THE PHYSICIAN” earned me the Best Movie – Jury award at Model and Movie Film Festival in 2019. adventure.
Directorial Debut - "MANVEE"
In 2021, I took a leap into Hindi feature films with “MANVEE,” released on MX Player and Hungama TV in 2022. The accolade of Best Debut Director at the 11th Dada Saheb Phalke Film Festival, Delhi, added a special touch to this milestone. “Manvee” gained global acclaim, especially in the category of Best LGBT film.
Scriptwriting and Beyond
Venturing into scriptwriting for OTT platforms in 2022, I explored new realms. “SHAHEED,” a web film for EOR TV OTT in 2023, stands as a testament to this exploration.
Literary Endeavors and Present Pursuits
Contributing to the book “Aparajito Satyajit” with a chapter on Satyajit Ray for Kalyani University showcased my literary passion. Presently, I’m engrossed in a documentary on “Women Empowerment in the Context of Folk Play in West Bengal” under the banner of IoE, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi.
Hobbies
Beyond the camera and pen, my life is colored by reading, writing, music, travel, and the art of capturing moments through photography.
